Married! …Costa Rica Style

If you’ve ever been to Costa Rica…then the famous “Casado” is already familiar.  Casado literally means “married”.  And in this case, the marriage is between the food items on your plate.

Every place is different, but generally you can get a Casado with chicken, Casado with beef, and Casado with fish.

Obviously, the meat of your choice will land on your plate, but it will be “married” to rice, beans, vegetables, lettuce…you never know.  Like snowflakes, my snowflakes, no two Casados are ever the same.

I had my second Casado of my trip last night, right here in La Fortuna.  The first one sucked…who blogs about shitty meals?  Here’s my first GOOD Casado.  Casado con pescado.  It sounds cool when you say it out loud.  Casado con pescado.  Casado con pescado.  Try it, you’ll like it.

I’m heading to Nicaragua tomorrow.  I’ll talk to you from the other side of the border.
